Home ventilation
Drier, healthier air through the whole house
Why Auckland homes get damp
Showers, cooking, drying washing inside and simply breathing put moisture into the air all day. In a house that is shut up while everyone is at work or school, that moisture has nowhere to go. It settles on the coldest surface it can find, usually the windows, and you come home to wet sills and a musty smell.
Opening windows helps, but not on a cold night and not while you are out. A ventilation system does the same job quietly, and keeps doing it.

Positive pressure or heat recovery
SmartVent build two kinds of system. Which one suits you depends mostly on how tightly your house is built.
Positive pressure, for older homes
- Takes air from the roof cavity, filters it and pushes it gently into the house
- That slight pressure forces damp, stale air out through the gaps a house already has
- Suits older homes with timber or older aluminium joinery, where the old air has somewhere to go
- Lite+, Positive3 and Positive Advance
Heat recovery, for newer homes
- Balanced: pulls stale air out and brings fresh air in at the same rate
- Passes outgoing air across a core so most of the warmth you have paid for is handed to the incoming air
- Suits newer, tighter, better sealed homes where positive pressure would have nowhere to push the old air
- Synergy3, Balance and the Vent-Axia Econiq
The SmartVent range
SmartVent's own prices for the units, from the smallest configuration in each range. Installation is quoted separately, and each system is sized by the number of rooms or the floor area it covers.
A heat pump and a ventilation system do different jobs
A heat pump recirculates the air already in the room, warming or cooling it. A ventilation system works on the air itself, so moisture is not left sitting in the house.
Put simply, one makes a room warm, the other keeps it from feeling clammy. Filters hold moisture too and can grow mould if they are not cleaned, which is one reason we offer servicing and cleaning.

Getting it installed
Residential only. For a commercial system, talk to us about commercial HVAC instead.
The range we supply and install
3Yes is a SmartVent dealer. We supply and install the SmartVent residential range for homes across Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Wellington. Ventilation is a residential service for us, so if you are after a commercial system, talk to us about commercial HVAC instead.
Each system is sized by the number of rooms or the floor area it needs to cover, so the price shown is the starting point for the smallest configuration in that range. The Lite+ comes in 1, 2, 4 and 6 room kits and has a rental lock, which lets an owner stop the system being switched off while leaving occupants free to adjust temperature, fan speed and scheduling. Positive3 and Positive Advance come in 2, 4 and 6 room kits and take the flexi air source, tempering heater and heat transfer add-ons. Synergy3 covers homes up to 150, 250 and 350 square metres, and Balance up to 150 and up to 350.
Positive Advance and Synergy3 use four wireless sensors to read temperature and humidity inside the house, in the roof cavity and outside, and ventilate to the dew point, which is the point at which condensation actually forms on your windows, rather than to a fixed setting. Synergy3 recovers up to 70 per cent of the heat from the air it extracts. Balance recovers up to 90 per cent.
Prices are the SmartVent retail prices including GST and cover the unit only. Installation is quoted separately. Browse all heat pumps or read the FAQs.
